It is March 27th, and today is opening day for the MLB!

Well, we finally made it. It is time to put all of the hypothetical conversations behind us and prepare for another season of Americas favourite past time. I would like to say I am stoked for this season as a Bluejays fan. The best I think I can muster is cautiously optimistic. I don’t want to allow myself to be fooled again. I don’t think the off season was as successful as Rogers employees like Jeff Blair would like you to believe. I also don’t think it was as bad as some “fans” want you to think. I am somewhere in the middle, and still want to see a Vlad contract but also want to see this front office fired with modern talented staff brought in to replace them. But I digress….today is for baseball lovers to just enjoy a hot dog and a beer and maybe a pretzel or popcorn and see their ace run out to the mound for the first pitch and swing of 2025. After seeing the projected line up I would like to see a couple things possibly depending on performance out of the gate. I think Will Wagner has a real shot at being the lead off batter moving forward with the way he gets on base. If that doesn’t materialize I would like to see Gimenez tried in the 2 hole ahead of Vlad and behind Bo. That may give him his best chance at seeing good pitches to hit as opposing pitchers will not want him on base. He is pretty good on the base paths which could translate to runs for Vlad and Santander with their power. I want to see how Clement picks up from grapefruit league play. He is a forgotten piece that just keeps getting better the more he plays and could be a vital piece of their success this season if he continues to produce. Finally, I look to see Berrios and Gausman have career years, especially Gausman, and to see Bassitt turn in his usual strong innings eater performance with Scherzer getting at least 20ish starts. Should he perform as he can we could see an 80+ win team and a real shot at winning the pennant. So enjoy! And let’s see what this version of the Bluejays can do in 2025!

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
